The Innovation and Technology Commission together with other government departments and its strategic partners have been organising a variety of fruitful initiatives and programmes related to innovation and technology.
Research and Development Centre Programme
In 2005, ITC launched the R&D Centre Programme with a view to strengthen collaborative applied research activities between the industry and research organisations.
Under the R&D Centre Programme, five R&D centres will be set up to undertake industry-oriented research in selected technology areas. These technology areas are crucial for upgrading our industry base in the PRD to move up the value chain. The R&D centres will be hosted by local universities and research institutions, which already possess research strengths in the respective technology areas. The five selected technology areas are: (1) automotive parts and accessory systems; (2) information and communications technologies; (3) logistics and supply chain management enabling technologies; (4) nanotechnology and advanced materials and (6) textile and clothing.
